Goodwill find!!!

Stopped at Goodwill recently looking for clothes but ended up in the back of the store where the household items are and found several large bags of material, yarn, and misc crafting supplies.  Noticed a couple things in each bag that I know covered the price of the whole bag so I bought all 3 (less than $15 total), when I got them home and started inspecting them I found enough pre-cut 5" square of cotton material to make at least 2 queen size quilt tops, not necessarily my colors but ones I can put together and give to the Red Cross quilt group to finish and give out.  Then in the same bag were several diamond cut blocks that I'm going to try making into a Lone Star quilt top, don't really remember right off hand what colors the material is but worth using to see if I want to spend the money to make one of my own.  In another bag found a pre-quilted panel for a baby quilt will probably put a border on it and save it for a new baby that I know is coming soon.  The bag with the craft supplies had a little of everything in it, includeing a plastic frame and loops for the pot holders I used to make as a child, not to mention purse hardware, sewing patterns, and so much more that I can't remember it all.

As I finish projects with all these new treasure's I'll post pictures!!!

Until next time,

Red & White Block Swap

I'm so excited, I received my package with all the wonderful red and white squares of fabric today!!! Karen at Sew Many Ways started this swap June 6, 2011, and we had to send 125 5" squares of red and white fabric but in turn we get 125 5" squares back of a variety of fabric.  Still all red and white and I'm so excited I got mine in the mail today!!!!
Now for the big question????
What to make with it,
a red and white quilt top with the blocks as is???
quilt top with 1/2 square triangles???
cut them up into 4th's and make a new bag???
We'll have to see!!!

Until next time,

New Bible Case

Well since the zipper was acting up on my old case I figured it was time to make a new one.  I decided to also embroider my name on it to make it more personal.  It has a pocket on the front and one inside.

Have gotten some sewing done this weekend, working on a birthday gift for my niece that is turning 2 next weekend.  Also doing some miscellaneous sewing seeing how things look.  I know not very exciting but had gotten some material and wanted to see what I could do with it.

Until next time,

Nothing New

Well this has been a slow week crafting wise.  I've been so busy with other business I haven't gotten to do any sewing, hopefully that will change soon!  Have a couple projects in mind that I'd like to get working on and hopefully life around here will allow it.

Until next time,

Hoo Am I???

Found a new blog, I know I'm blog hopping again :-)!!!  Hoping to get my blog noticed more, so here goes!!

1. Do you decorate for the 4th of July?

No, I'm not a big decorator, my daughter is the one that normally does this type of thing and she just recently got married and moved out, such a sad time in my life!!

2. Do you buy fireworks for the 4th of July?

No, our state limits what you are allowed to set off so we normally just watch what the town puts together.

3.  How do you celebrate the 4th of July?

We normally spend it with family and friends, doing family reunions or just random picnics.

4.  Do you have a family member serving our country?

Not in active duty right now, I have however had many family members serving in the past.  I do have a very good friend who's son is on his way home from Afgahanistan as I type, he is to be in NC on Friday evening.  I do have a cousin that is doing the civilian thing right now in Afgahanistan, he is retired Marines.

5. Do you dress in red, white, or blue for the 4th of July?

Yes, I do normally try to dress in 1 or all 3 of those colors for the holiday weekend.

Well until next time,
Jodi

Bridal Shower Gifts

Please remember I am NOT the photographer of the family, unfortunately he wasn't available when I was taking these photos.  My cousins daughter is getting married next month and as a shower gift I made towels for the kitchen, I told her since I didn't know which of the 2 would be doing the cooking this covered them both!
Also did these pillowcases, this is a first for me and I think I'll do them again, I am very please with how they turned out.
I'll have to spend some time looking for cute saying to put on them, I thought about putting "I have a headache" and "I have an aspirin" on them but decided to be safe and just use their last name.

Until next time,
Jodi

Latest venture

A dress for a little girl, special order from a co-worker.  She wanted a dress for her daughter, it was easier than I thought it would be.  I do have to say that I am very happy with the way it turned out.

Well until next time,
